Like the sweet scent of Jasmin,
she entered my mind....
Her words tender, so caring
i felt so alive....

From earth's farthest reach
she caressed my heart...
Her beauty of spirit
held my soul captive, caught...

With a few spoken words
she beckoned me to her...
And each new goodbye
opened, salted the scar...

Where is she now?
what have we done?
Did her heart leave, forget us,
now two ... not one?

In my mind's depth
i reach to those nights:
Hours only ours
in days, for her, just done

As hard in my trying
and oft-busy life ...
Hands of time offer
bitter, sweet relief

I'll never forget
a feeling without touch...
Her radiant face frozen;
melting, trembling my core.

My old world thrust down ...
can life before her return?
Wonders of her beauty afar;
the torch that lit my heart ...

The touch we will not share ...
quiets my thoughts,
Steals my breath ...
holds no release

Dreams of what might've been
if we could trick time,
distance and obligation ...
compounds a silent ache

Torn in anguish ...
was love with her worth it?
